Field Applications Engineer (FAE) - MPU and DNPU

Location: San Jose, California, United States; travel up to 30% within the continental US.

Salary: $147,900–$203,400 annually.

What you will do

• Provide premium technical support to assigned customers and support MPU and discrete AI accelerator product adoption.
• Drive design wins, design-in campaigns, proof-of-concept projects, solution designs, and customer demonstrations.
• Define and communicate NXP’s technical value proposition against competing solutions.
• Act as the system software architect for proposals and communicate software value across technical teams.
• Analyze customer requirements, competitive insights, and application trends to inform product roadmaps.
• Build relationships with customers, sales teams, business lines, distributors, and ecosystem partners while training field sales staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• At least 5 years of development engineering or applications support experience with microprocessor-based embedded systems and at least 5 years of Field Application Engineering experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Professional experience with C, C++, and embedded firmware development.
• Knowledge of SoC interfaces including Ethernet, PCIe, MIPI, LPDDR5, USB, and low-speed I/O protocols.
• Knowledge of ARM Cortex-A and Cortex-M architectures, register programming models, RTOS, embedded Linux, kernel and user space, and U-Boot.
• Ability to review schematics, provide design recommendations, understand target applications, and deliver technical training.

Nice to have

• Experience with graphics and video subsystems and related software drivers.
• Knowledge of Edge AI deployment and familiarity with TensorFlow Lite or ONNX.
• Knowledge of medical, industrial, or IoT system applications.
