Sr. Staff Embedded Applications Engineer (Edge AI)

Location: 100% onsite in Columbia, Maryland, United States

Salary: $139,500–$185,000 annual pay, plus eligibility for bonus opportunities and commission pay.

What you will do

• Lead the Edge AI Applications Lab, managing projects, people, facilities, equipment, and scheduling.
• Develop and maintain edge AI applications, demonstrations, and solutions combining tiny ML models with physical hardware.
• Collaborate with customers and internal product teams to ingest, debug, and analyze data for model development.
• Optimize and deploy AI models for microcontrollers and embedded platforms with AI and embedded engineering teams.
• Plan laboratory projects, procure parts, configure instrumentation and hardware, and create ML models.
• Fabricate sensor arrays, embedded boards, and other physical systems; collect real-world data for model development and validation.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, with 7–12 years of career experience.
• Understanding of AI/ML algorithms and experience deploying models on microcontrollers.
• Hands-on experience fabricating prototype systems with microelectronic, physical, and sensor components, including design tools, 3D printing, and electrical assembly.
• Experience leading engineering teams and collaborating across multiple cross-functional groups.
• Familiarity with audio, electrical, accelerometer, and control-system signals, including large high-frequency sensor datasets, debugging, preprocessing, and MLOps.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and C, including real-time edge computing and embedded systems.

• Background in digital signal processing for audio and time-series data.
