Controls & Test Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Cd Juárez, Chih., Mexico. The role requires working from the office or lab approximately 33% of the time, working from a home office approximately 33% of the time, and traveling 25–75% of the schedule for vendor visits, plant installations, technical reviews, and launch support.

What you will do

• Develop and deliver electrical controls, programming, hardware, traceability, and testing requirements for manual to highly automated assembly and test equipment.
• Define equipment specifications with manufacturing and M&E vendors, including electrical safety, control systems, testing sequences, and documentation.
• Program software and test equipment algorithms, including master and reject test programs.
• Coordinate machine qualification, plant transfer, installation, start-up, and verification of controls requirements.
• Integrate traceability and permission requirements and verify readiness before PPAP.
• Support prototype builds, pilot runs, new program quotations, cell handoff, and lessons-learned improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechatronics, technical, or equivalent engineering field.
• 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Advanced spoken and written English.
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts, PLC controls, LabVIEW, Visual Basic, and problem-solving tools.
• Experience qualifying and validating lean assembly cells, machinery, equipment, gauges, and error-proofing devices using Cpk, DOE, and MSA studies.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, Minitab, and Microsoft Office; project management and multi-project experience.

Nice to have

• Automotive embedded-system communication experience with CAN, LIN, or similar protocols.
• PCBA programming and calibration experience with Melexis, Allegro, or similar components.
