What you will do

• Own and scale the global Lakebase Field Engineering organization, growing to 50+ SAs.
• Align with Global Lakebase Sales to define and operationalize Lakebase GTM strategy, including resource prioritization and distribution.
• Build and mentor a collaborative, inclusive field engineering culture; recruit and retain talent.
• Run a consistent management operating rhythm using KPIs for database launch outcomes (developer adoption, production migration velocity, application launch timelines, low-latency workload success).
• Act as a thought leader with strategic customers and partners to position Databricks solutions and build account trust.
• Drive Databricks brand building for Lakebase as the storage layer for modern data apps and AI agents.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and scaling technical pre-sales and customer delivery teams.
• Experience scaling and mentoring field/technical teams across in-person and remote working models.
• Experience working with accounts from Growth/Net New to Large and Complex accounts generating $1M+ ARR.
• Senior-level tenure in high-growth enterprise software pre-sales, with experience in the database market.
• Deep technical competence in operational databases (PostgreSQL/OLTP), application development paradigms, real-time data streaming, application APIs, and AI/ML state frameworks (e.g., vector search extensions or agentic workflows), plus strong Lakehouse architecture understanding.
• Open to a minimum travel expectation of 30%.
