Solutions Engineer (SLED)

Location: Must be based in or near Chicago, Illinois. This role requires approximately 25% travel.

Salary: $152,000 – $228,000 USD (OTE)

What you will do

• Partner with the sales team as the primary technical domain expert to demonstrate the value of Okta’s identity solutions.
• Conduct customized product demonstrations and address technical inquiries from diverse stakeholders, including C-level executives.
• Plan and execute Proof of Concepts (POCs) for complex customer use cases in collaboration with internal engineering teams.
• Provide actionable feedback to product management regarding feature enhancements and market differentiation.
• Support marketing events, executive briefings, and trade shows as a subject matter expert.
• Maintain deep knowledge of competitive landscapes and industry-specific security requirements.

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience in a customer-facing capacity.
• Strong proficiency in network security protocols such as OAuth, OAuth2, SAML, or LDAP.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, API Gateways, and SDKs.
• Experience deploying applications across cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Solid understanding of core security concerns including SSL/TLS, encryption, and web vulnerabilities (XSS, XSRF).
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts on the fly.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Generative AI or LLM technologies (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex).
• Experience with microservices architecture or customer data platforms.
• Background in developing ReBAC or Fine Grain Authorization models.
• Experience creating complex architecture diagrams and user journey flows.
