Описание вакансии
TL;DR
Sr. Design Release Engineer, Low Voltage (Automotive): Own the end-to-end electrical design release for low-voltage components and wire harnesses, with an accent on supplier technical alignment, ECO/ECR execution, and PLM/BOM accuracy. Focus on managing packaging and routing quality (grounding, shielding, strain relief, thermal exposure) and driving on-time delivery to support prototype builds and production.
Location: Garden Grove, CA
Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 USD
Company
is an American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company building an EV platform for medium-duty EVs and hybrids.
What you will do
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for low-voltage component and wire harness suppliers, evaluating capabilities and resolving technical roadblocks while meeting automotive quality standards.
- Manage and review 2D wiring diagrams, schematics, and 3D harness routing; ensure correct packaging within vehicle architecture for grounding, shielding, strain relief, and thermal exposure.
- Own electrical parts release lifecycle by creating, tracking, and executing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), and maintaining the electrical Bill of Materials (BOM) in the PLM system.
- Build and maintain aggressive, realistic component delivery schedules; identify critical-path risks and mitigate lead-time delays for long-lead electrical components to support breadboard testing, prototypes, and production.
- Lead internal cross-functional design reviews with Vehicle Integration, Firmware/Software, and Manufacturing to ensure low-voltage components integrate seamlessly with high-voltage systems and the vehicle network.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering design, release engineering, or program management for automotive low-voltage systems or wire harnesses.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical design tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics Capital, Zuken, VeSys, or CATIA Electrical) and PLM/BOM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia, or similar).
- Solid understanding of 12V/24V vehicle architectures, automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet), and major automotive connector families (e.g., TE, Aptiv, Molex).
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex supplier relationships and hold stakeholders accountable to deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to bridge hardware, software, and non-technical teams.
Nice to have
- Experience at an early-stage electric vehicle startup.
- Hands-on electrical troubleshooting (multimeters, oscilloscopes) and network analysis tools (Vector CANalyzer, PCAN).
- Experience transitioning a wire harness or major ECU from prototype into high-volume production.
Culture & Benefits
- Comprehensive Health, Dental & Vision (HDV) with 100% employee coverage.
- Early-stage stock options.
- 401k, HSA, and FSA retirement and healthcare benefits.
- Generous paid time off (PTO) and parental leave, plus an annual vacation bonus.
- Wellness & fertility benefits, cell phone stipend, and complimentary meals with stocked kitchens.
