Principal Electrical Engineer (Data Centers)

Location: Hybrid at offices in Denver, CO; Ashburn, VA; Sterling, VA; or Santa Clara, CA, with 3 days on site and 2 flexible days, or remote from the United States. Travel is expected at 15–25% and may increase over time.

Salary: $165,000–$180,000 annually plus bonus. Compensation may vary by location and qualifications.

What you will do

• Own electrical engineering standards, reference designs, approved variants, and technical guidance for global data center products.
• Lead the integration of battery energy storage systems, distributed generation, advanced controls, and critical power infrastructure.
• Define electrical strategies, topology, protection, control philosophies, safety requirements, and commissioning standards.
• Participate in product development from concept through implementation and establish complete sequences of operation.
• Review designs, equipment selections, system submittals, handoffs, and site-specific adaptations with internal teams and external partners.
• Guide load, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, distribution, voltage drop, duct bank heat-effect, and lighting studies.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
• Substantial electrical power design and construction experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Data center or mission-critical experience is required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Excel, Word, AmpCalc, ETAP, and PSCAD.
• Working knowledge of critical power infrastructure within data centers.
• Ability to work from the listed United States office locations on a hybrid basis or remotely, with 15–25% travel.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional engineering license.
