Senior Engineer - Grid Operations Technology

Location: Dorchester, MA, United States; hybrid schedule with at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Must be able to work up to five days in the office when required and travel between MA, CT, and NH.

Salary: $129,450–$143,830 annually, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Support electric system operators by optimizing distribution systems through DMS advanced functionality, including AFR, LVM, planned outage studies, and DER/load forecasting.
• Provide technical expertise in ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, energy storage, microgrids, Volt/Var Optimization, and load shedding.
• Specify and configure DMS applications such as FLISR, LVM, AFR, and load and generation scheduling.
• Develop project approval documentation covering technical solutions, alternatives, risks, budgets, and schedules.
• Build tools and methods for processing multi-source data and validating engineering models and databases.
• Coordinate grid modernization initiatives with engineering, operations, IT, regulatory, legal, vendors, and external industry stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• At least five years of technical, operational, or engineering experience in the electrical utility industry.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, electric distribution modeling, and distribution operational technologies including DMS, OMS, GIS, SCADA, EMS, and Synergi/CYME.
• Basic knowledge of SCADA communication systems and protocols such as DNP, along with strong analytical, presentation, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in the Dorchester, MA hybrid arrangement, travel between MA, CT, and NH, respond to emergency restoration assignments, and hold a valid driver’s license.
