Principal Quality Engineer (Playwright)

Location: Boston, United States; hybrid work requiring two days in the office weekly

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 per year, plus a performance-based bonus

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of automation frameworks with Playwright, Cucumber, and TypeScript.
• Establish an automation-first approach covering UI, API, integration, and regression testing.
• Own test strategies for assigned value streams and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Define standards for test data management, mocking, service virtualization, defect triage, and quality gates.
• Use AI for test generation, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, and more efficient testing.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Architecture, and Security teams while guiding scrum teams and leading enablement sessions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software test automation or software engineering, including 5+ years in a principal or lead role.
• Hands-on expertise with TypeScript, Playwright, Cucumber, and modern automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native application testing, and DevOps-aligned QA workflows.
• Experience designing automation frameworks from scratch and scaling them across teams and applications.
• Understanding of performance testing, API testing, and test observability tools.
• Familiarity with Agile or SAFe practices and strong communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.

• Experience in the insurance or financial services domain.
