What you will do
- Lead the end-to-end development of spacecraft mechanical subsystems from concept to flight qualification.
- Perform structural and thermal analysis to guide design decisions and ensure mission success.
- Plan and execute prototype builds, environmental testing, and qualification campaigns.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including RF, electrical, software, and manufacturing.
- Facilitate technical trade studies and communicate design intent, risks, and recommendations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience developing mechanical systems from concept through validation.
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics, heat transfer, dynamics, and hardware integration.
- Proficiency with CAD platforms such as Onshape, Creo, SolidWorks, or NX.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and design quality.
- Experience with design for manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test principles.
Nice to have
- Experience developing spacecraft, satellite, or other mission-critical hardware.
- Familiarity with Simcenter 3D, Simcenter/NX NASTRAN, or Simcenter Space Systems Thermal.
- Knowledge of ESA ECSS, NASA, or equivalent aerospace structural and thermal standards.
- Eligibility for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensure in a Canadian jurisdiction.
