What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy production software for ego-motion estimation and localization systems.
• Implement state estimation and sensor fusion algorithms for vehicle pose, velocity, and acceleration.
• Analyze real-world vehicle data to evaluate and identify opportunities for system improvement.
• Develop verification and validation strategies to ensure software quality, reliability, and safety.
• Collaborate with perception, planning, and controls teams to deliver integrated driving capabilities.
• Contribute to software architecture and engineering best practices using modern C++ and Python.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience using modern C++.
• Proficiency in Python for tooling, analysis, and prototyping.
• Experience with localization, state estimation, or sensor fusion using IMU, GNSS, cameras, lidar, or radar.
• Experience designing and validating production-quality software in Linux environments.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Ann Arbor, MI.

Nice to have

• Experience with SLAM, visual odometry, mapping, or perception systems.
• Familiarity with optimization frameworks like GTSAM or Ceres Solver.
• Experience with PyTorch or other machine learning frameworks.
• Knowledge of ROS/ROS 2, Docker, and CI/CD workflows.
• Familiarity with automotive functional safety standards, including ISO 26262.
