Director, Field Operations (Renewable Energy)

Location: U.S.-based remote candidates in the EST time zone; role scope covers the Eastern United States and Puerto Rico. Up to 30% travel required.

Salary: $183,000–$238,000 per year, plus annual bonus and long-term compensation.

What you will do

• Lead safe and effective field operations for solar, battery energy storage, and wind assets across the Eastern United States and Puerto Rico.
• Oversee operations and maintenance activities performed by third-party providers across U.S. sites.
• Manage fleet availability, reliability, safety, operational performance, KPIs, and cost control.
• Partner with Asset Management, Finance, Commercial, Human Resources, and other teams on portfolio performance, budgets, workforce planning, and strategic hiring.
• Drive continuous improvement through operational data, analytics, emerging technologies, and standardized maintenance practices.
• Represent operational and financial performance to senior leadership, investors, lenders, joint venture partners, customers, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10–15 years of experience leading renewable energy operations, asset management, maintenance, power generation, or related technical operations.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed, multi-site operations teams through managers and supervisors.
• Knowledge of utility-scale solar plant and electrical-system operations, including IEEE, NERC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout, and grounding standards.
• Familiarity with SCADA, DAS, remote monitoring systems, equipment schematics, and operational protocols.
• Strong communication, safety leadership, financial, analytical, and people-management skills.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree such as an MBA or master's degree.
• Experience with P&L ownership and financial accountability.
• Experience managing utility-scale solar, battery storage, and wind portfolios.
• Experience with thermal generation assets, third-party service providers, performance-based contracts, or executive stakeholder presentations.
