Solar Technician I (Solar PV/O&M): Perform O&M activities for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) sites and associated substations with an accent on safe corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance plus electrical/mechanical power plant operations. Focus on switching and clearance orders, troubleshooting and routine maintenance, and maintaining compliance with environmental and safety requirements.

Location: US, Armadillo, TX (commute daily to AES Armadillo Solar site; preferred within 45 minutes of site response)

What you will do

• Handle assigned O&M activities for utility-scale solar PV sites and associated substation equipment.
• Perform/assist corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations for inverters, trackers, combiner boxes, PV modules, DC/AC collection and distribution, and substation systems.
• Carry out routine maintenance including electrical troubleshooting and repair, instrumentation calibration, and basic inverter troubleshooting.
• Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders; operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
• Support technical and administrative duties (plant orders, plant procedures, operating instructions) and participate in required training.
• Maintain compliance with environmental and safety requirements; may assist with vegetation management equipment operation.

Requirements

• Location: Must commute daily to the AES Armadillo Solar site (Corsicana, Texas area) and be preferred within 45 minutes for site response.
• 1+ years of experience with utility-scale solar PV power plant O&M and substation experience (or equivalent qualifications).
• Experience with electrical systems and safety principles including LOTO and electrical safety.
• Ability to operate a personal computer with technical proficiency; SCADA and computerized maintenance management systems experience is highly recommended.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Qualified to perform routine and emergency operations at a solar generation facility and associated substation.
