Solar Technician I

Location: Onsite at the hirify.global Armadillo Solar site near Corsicana, Texas; daily commuting required, preferably within 45 minutes

What you will do

• Perform and assist with corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance at utility-scale solar PV sites and associated substations.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, calibrate instrumentation, and perform basic inverter troubleshooting.
• Operate inverters, trackers, combiner boxes, PV modules, DC and AC collection systems, and substation equipment.
• Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders while operating electrical and mechanical plant systems.
• Write or assist with plant orders, procedures, operating instructions, and maintenance documentation.
• Support vegetation management, training, safety compliance, and work independently or as part of a crew.

Requirements

• At least three years of PV O&M solar technician experience, or five years in a power plant plus at least one year in PV solar O&M or construction.
• A four-year technical degree or equivalent journeyman qualifications.
• Knowledge of electrical fundamentals, including electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory.
• Experience with electrical systems and safety principles, including LOTO and electrical safety.
• Knowledge of substation equipment, systems, operations, and basic power-generation control devices.
• Ability to work onsite, commute daily to the Corsicana-area site, work overtime or non-standard hours, and travel to other sites as needed. English reading, writing, and comprehension are required.

Nice to have

• A two-year technical degree or equivalent journeyman qualifications.
• Experience with SCADA and computerized maintenance management systems.
• Experience with electrical and construction projects and basic IT equipment.
