Regional Operations & Maintenance Manager (BESS)

Location: Remote, United States — California

Base salary: $122,000–$176,000 per year, plus benefits and possible performance incentives.

What you will do

• Lead regional project managers, technicians, and contractors through workforce planning, coaching, training, and performance management.
• Provide 24/7 operational leadership for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including safe and reliable operations, emergency response, and outage planning.
• Deliver contractual performance targets for availability, capacity, efficiency, reliability, safety, and cost control.
• Develop preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
• Manage battery health, degradation tracking, warranty claims, augmentation planning, spare parts, logistics, commissioning, and operational readiness.
• Coordinate customers, OEMs, contractors, regulators, and senior leadership while managing budgets, service agreements, performance reporting, and vendor performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, energy, or industrial engineering, or equivalent technical education and substantial power-plant or electrical O&M experience.
• 6–8+ years of power-system operations and maintenance experience, including 2–5 years in a supervisory or multi-site leadership role.
• Experience with utility-scale BESS, hybrid solar-plus-storage, stand-alone energy storage, PV systems, and rotating power generation assets.
• Technical expertise in lithium-ion phosphate battery systems, power conversion systems, MV/LV electrical distribution, SCADA, BMS, EMS, industrial communications, and remote diagnostics.
• Knowledge of CMMS platforms such as Maximo or SAP PM, electrical safety practices, arc flash, LOTO, switching, high-voltage procedures, energy markets, capacity markets, and ancillary services.
• Ability to lead technical teams, manage OEM and contractor relationships, analyze operational data, negotiate performance standards, and communicate with executives, engineers, field personnel, and customers.
