What you will do

• Lead electrical design for medium voltage substations (15kV - 230kV) from early concept through construction support.
• Establish and improve medium voltage engineering standards and design guidelines for rapid infrastructure scaling.
• Provide technical oversight for design drawings, specifications, and power systems analysis studies (short-circuit, load flow, arc flash).
• Collaborate with utility providers, third-party engineering firms, and equipment manufacturers to ensure compliance with design requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Support site feasibility, capacity planning, budgeting, and risk management activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience specifically focused on medium voltage substation and distribution design.
• Proficiency with power systems analysis software (ETAP, SKM, PSCAD) and CAD tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Thorough knowledge of IEEE standards, NEC/NFPA (including NFPA 70E), NESC, ANSI, and IEC guidelines.
• Direct experience producing substation deliverables: SLDs, three-line diagrams, protection schematics, and grounding plans.
• Must be a U.S. person (Citizen, Green Card holder, etc.) to comply with U.S. Government export regulations.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Direct exposure to high voltage (69kV+) substation design.
• Familiarity with SCADA, RTUs, and communication protocols such as IEC 61850.
• Experience with gas turbine plants, fuel cell systems (SOFC, PEMFC), or cogeneration (CHP).
• Experience managing utility interconnection and coordination.
