What you will do

• Manage and process HIPAA and state privacy requests, including validating releases of protected health information (PHI).
• Monitor the Privacy Hotline and HIPAA inbox to ensure timely response and documentation of privacy requests.
• Investigate and document reports of unauthorized disclosures of protected health information.
• Research federal legislative and regulatory changes to assess their impact on business operations.
• Coordinate with regulatory authorities and internal departments to communicate compliance expectations and interpretations.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on privacy and federal compliance issues relevant to the business.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States
• Bachelor’s degree in English, History, Political Science, or equivalent experience.
• 2 years of experience with regulatory compliance in a healthcare environment.
• Knowledge of state and federal privacy laws, including HIPAA, GLBA, and GINA.
• Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word and Excel.
• Strong analytical and writing skills for regulatory research and summarization.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration.
• Paralegal or Legal degree.
• Experience with health insurance contracts and working with health plans or employer groups.
