What you will do

• Build and scale the company's legal infrastructure, including templates, processes, and commercial agreement frameworks.
• Partner cross-functionally to provide practical, decisive legal guidance that accelerates business decision-making.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the CFO and executive team on legal and regulatory risk.
• Oversee compliance and data privacy frameworks, specifically regarding HIPAA and sensitive patient data.
• Design efficient legal workflows for intake, triage, and escalation to ensure proactive legal support.
• Collaborate with outside counsel on specialized regulatory and privacy matters.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years of legal experience, with significant in-house experience in technology or healthcare technology.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in New York or another U.S. jurisdiction.
• Deep expertise in negotiating commercial contracts, including SaaS MSAs, BAAs, and vendor agreements.
• Working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data privacy regulations.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and provide sound risk assessments without a full playbook.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, or digital health environments.
• Familiarity with state privacy laws like CCPA/CPRA and AI/data governance frameworks.
• Experience supporting fundraising rounds, equity management, or board governance.
• Prior experience as a company's first or sole in-house counsel.
