Financial Analyst (Energy)

What you will do

• Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, budgets, and operating plans to support strategic decision-making.
• Analyze customer projects, profitability, pricing, and operational performance to optimize value.
• Design and implement scalable financial workflows and automate manual reporting and accounting activities.
• Conduct valuation of energy assets, including calculating raw material contents and performing commodity pricing sensitivity analysis.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, accounting operations, and tax compliance.
• Partner directly with founders to contribute to company strategy and establish operational best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, accounting, or corporate finance.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and tax regulations.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Washington, DC.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or active pursuit of one.
• ASA or MAI appraisal designations, or USPAP-compliant experience.
• Experience in the energy, minerals, recycling, or commodities sector.
• Previous experience at an early-stage venture-backed startup.
