TL;DR
Techno-Economic Analyst (Fusion Energy): Developing techno-economic models to evaluate the costs, benefits, competitiveness, and commercial viability of fusion power plants with an accent on probabilistic analysis, energy-system metrics, and cross-functional validation. Focus on modeling uncertainty, forecasting cost and LCOE drivers, optimizing plant economics, and translating quantitative results into engineering, R&D, finance, and business-development decisions.

Location: On-site in Devens, Massachusetts, United States. Occasional travel and work during nights, weekends, or on-call periods may be required.

Salary: $107,000–$160,000 per year, plus equity and benefits. The range reflects new-hire salaries across U.S. locations.

Company

hirify.global develops commercially viable fusion power plants and technologies to accelerate the transition to fusion energy.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain techno-economic models for fusion products, including ARC, a planned commercial fusion power plant.
  • Evaluate costs, benefits, competitiveness, financial viability, and commercial desirability using sensitivity analysis and probabilistic modeling.
  • Track industry comparisons and refine estimates for product and system costs, levelized cost of energy, capital costs, and returns.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, Scientific Software, Finance, Procurement, Business Development, and external stakeholders to collect data and validate models.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, briefings, and research results for internal and external audiences.

  • Experience with quantitative analysis, probabilistic models, forecasting, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Mastery of MS Excel and proficiency with MS PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of thermodynamics, engineering fundamentals, energy usage, plant optimization, and metrics such as LCOE, overnight capital costs, IRR, and utility return on equity.
  • Ability to work on-site in an industrial facility with hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.

Nice to have

  • Experience with detailed process modeling and techno-economic models for emerging technologies.
  • Background spanning energy-system engineering, business development, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with energy-system optimization and probabilistic modeling.
  • Comfort with mathematical modeling and tool development in Python.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced startup environment focused on integrity, execution, impact, and self-critique.
  • Equity and competitive compensation.
  • Company holidays, flexible vacation days, sick days, and parental leave.
