Network Engineer (Linux/Monitoring)

Location: Must be based in the USA. The role is primarily remote, but requires an initial one-week onsite visit in Woodlawn, MD, and ongoing quarterly onsite visits.

Compensation: $100–$110 per hour.

What you will do

• Administer, maintain, and extend large-scale network monitoring platforms, including patches and configuration.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Perl, and shell to integrate systems and support reporting.
• Take ownership of technical tasks within larger projects while adhering to quality standards.
• Produce accurate technical documentation and present findings to client stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and manage monitoring configurations for multi-vendor environments.

Requirements

• Must be based in the USA.
• Around 8 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking or systems engineering.
• Strong Linux administration experience, including package management and OS-level troubleshooting.
• Solid working knowledge of SNMP-based monitoring tools in environments with 1,000+ devices.
• Proficiency in Perl, Python, and shell scripting for automation.
• Familiarity with networking protocols including TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.

Nice to have

• CCNA certification or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
