Billing Specialist

What you will do

• Create, review, and manage customer invoices with high accuracy.
• Support usage-based billing using internal data, billing inputs, customer-specific adjustments, and pricing rules.
• Read customer contracts carefully and apply billing terms correctly, including invoice updates and revisions.
• Upload invoices into customer portals and manage customer-specific submission requirements (including PO requirements).
• Own the end-to-end AR process after invoices are sent: payment application, monitoring outstanding balances, and proactive collections follow-up.
• Communicate directly with customers to resolve billing questions, invoice disputes, portal issues, and payment delays; escalate billing issues with Sales and Client Services when needed.

Requirements

• Experience in billing, accounts receivable, collections, finance operations, accounting, client billing, or a related operational role.
• Strong client-facing communication skills with a professional, patient, service-oriented approach.
• Excellent attention to detail for reading contracts, applying pricing rules, and reviewing invoices.
• Comfort with manual, repetitive, detail-heavy work and strong follow-through to chase payments and missing information.
• Comfort working with Google Sheets and Excel to manipulate billing/AR data.
• Based in the New York City area and available to work onsite in the Flatiron office Tuesday through Thursday.
