2nd Shift Entry Level Machinist

Location: Onsite in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States

Salary: $18.50–$22.00 per hour

What you will do

• Perform basic drilling, turning, milling, grinding, tapping, and sanding operations.
• Operate lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, tapping machines, power hand tools, and band saws.
• Select and maintain turning, plunge, form, tap, die, and saw tools.
• Set machine speeds, feeds, tooth sizes, guides, and blades, including blade welding and replacement.
• Complete required production paperwork and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• At least one year completed in an approved Machine Technology vocational program or equivalent experience.
• High school diploma or GED preferred, or demonstrated ability to understand and apply verbal, written, and computer-based instructions.
• Ability to understand work instructions and training in English.
• Proficiency in general mathematics, including basic arithmetic.
• Knowledge of machine-shop gauges and machines.
• Graduation from the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing program is encouraged.
