Materials Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Perform technical design reviews for new product launches and evaluate engineering change requests.
• Provide materials and failure analysis support for product launches, production, and supplier concerns.
• Create and maintain materials and process specifications for driveline products, motors, and inverter systems.
• Conduct testing in the Metallurgical Laboratory, including hardness, chemical analysis, and microscopic evaluation.
• Coordinate outsourced testing and lead material-related projects.
• Apply new material and process technologies to improve product efficiency and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or Welding Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in materials engineering and manufacturing.
• Knowledge of ferrous/non-ferrous metals, plastics, elastomers, adhesives, welding, and corrosion.
• Proficiency in hardness testing, tension/compression testing, fatigue testing, and microscopic evaluation.
• Ability to read design prints and work effectively in both independent and team environments.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Maumee, OH.

Nice to have

• Experience using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) for failure analysis.
• Direct experience with electric vehicle (EV) materials and products.
