TL;DR

Quality Engineer (Automotive): Ensuring product quality and reducing warranty at a high-volume engine manufacturing facility with an accent on problem-solving, containment, and corrective actions. Focus on maintaining plant certification, managing product quality standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes.

Location: Flint, Michigan. Must be based in or be able to relocate to the USA. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship.

What you will do

  • Drive problem-solving activities to improve quality performance and reduce warranty.
  • Maintain BIQ 4 certification and develop Product Quality Standards for assigned roles.
  • Coordinate engine quality holds, repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills.
  • Support APQP and supplier readiness activities, including PPAP.
  • Issue Quality Alerts and manage temporary work orders in collaboration with Engineering.
  • Validate scrap disposition and participate in high-risk supplier communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with PFMEA, PRTS, SPC, GD&T, and Control Plans.
  • Ability to work off shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Must have valid US work authorization; no immigration sponsorship provided.

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge or experience in engine machining and assembly.
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and Red X or Six Sigma certifications.
