TL;DR
Material Development Engineer (Absorbent Hygiene Materials): Leading material development, cost innovation, raw material qualification, and trial execution for absorbent hygiene products with an accent on material quality, processability, and cross-functional technical collaboration. Focus on developing and testing non-wovens, films, pulp, SAP, adhesives, elastics, and laminates, analyzing material data, and executing commercial and pilot-line trials.
Location: US PA McElhattan; onsite at the Products facility in McElhattan, PA

What you will do
- Lead material development and material cost innovation for absorbent hygiene products.
- Ensure consistent raw material quality, supply, specifications, and processability on converting lines.
- Collaborate with suppliers, process and quality engineers, operations, product developers, and external partners.
- Investigate new materials and technologies, develop applicable intellectual property, and support product and process improvements.
- Plan, conduct, analyze, and interpret commercial and pilot-line material trials.
- Organize the material development pipeline, raw material qualifications, and technical service activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymers, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- At least 5 years of project or process engineering experience and 5 years of industrial experience.
- 2–5 years of material development or process experience.
- Knowledge of raw materials, material characterization, analytical testing, material specifications, and material interactions in products and converting processes.
- Experience with trial planning and execution, project management, statistical analysis, and Design of Experiments.
- Ability to define problems, analyze data, organize multiple projects, and work with diverse cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of absorbent hygiene raw materials and SAP.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Minitab, and related office systems.
