Head of Supplier Technical Development & Field Reliability (Wind Energy)

Location: Hamburg or Rostock, Germany; flexible working hours and up to 8 days of mobile work per month.

What you will do

• Take technical ownership of supplier-related field failures, ensuring rapid containment, root cause analysis, and sustainable corrective actions.
• Manage end-to-end supplier technical performance, field reliability, and risk mitigation across components and systems.
• Establish and govern a supplier technical maturity assessment framework aligned with industry and internal standards.
• Improve process capability and reduce variation in critical electrical and mechanical characteristics.
• Integrate design engineering with supplier manufacturing using design-for-manufacturing and design-for-reliability principles.
• Lead and coach a high-performing technical team while coordinating with Service, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and international stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• 10+ years of experience in supplier technical development, quality leadership, manufacturing processes, and field failure resolution in an industrial environment.
• Proven senior-level leadership experience with technical teams and cross-functional international initiatives.
• Strong understanding of complex manufacturing processes, validation methods, testing, and certification standards.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical process control, FMEA, DMAIC, and design of experiments.
• Fluent English is required; willingness to travel is required.

Nice to have

• Technical expertise in wind turbine components, transformers, or comparable heavy electrical systems.
• German language skills.
