Sr. Substrates Development and Ramp Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Hybrid role based in Tokyo or Nagoya, Japan.

What you will do

• Define material inspection methodologies and conduct studies to optimize production yield and cost control.
• Collaborate with commodity managers to lead supplier selection and ensure performance compliance.
• Drive supplier process window validation activities across all development stages.
• Perform root cause analysis for supply chain issues and implement effective solutions.
• Develop next-generation methodology capabilities to support the long-range supply chain roadmap.
• Manage quality excursions and drive failure mode analysis with external suppliers.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Science or Engineering with at least 8 years of experience in semiconductor fab, substrates, or assembly/test environments.
• In-depth knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and operations management.
• Fluent business-level English with strong presentation and articulation skills.
• Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and interact with supplier management.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and experience with statistical process control (SPC).

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience in quality management and data analytics.
• Expertise in raw materials management and cleanroom operations.
• Knowledge of foreign material control protocols.
