Field Supplier Quality Engineer (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end supplier qualification, onboarding, and periodic audits to ensure quality compliance.
• Drive supplier readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI) and scale-up to high-volume manufacturing.
• Develop and implement material/process control plans, SPC frameworks, and process validation criteria.
• Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions using structured methodologies like 8D and PFMEA.
• Champion digital transformation by scaling AI-enabled quality systems, machine vision, and automated inspection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional global teams to align supplier quality and performance strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Materials Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or process engineering.
• Expertise in quality tools: MSA, SPC, PFMEA, and 8D.
• Experience in precision manufacturing industries such as semiconductors or disk drives.
• Fluent Japanese language proficiency.
• Willingness to travel weekly (regional and international) to support supplier engagements.

Nice to have

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems.
• Experience applying predictive analytics or computer vision for defect reduction.
