What you will do

  • Manage a dedicated caseload from initial receipt of papers to the final resolution of costs.
  • Formulate initial costs strategies and settlement parameters based on proactive case reviews.
  • Prepare points of dispute and negotiate settlements via telephone with opponents.
  • Update clients on progress and ensure all correspondence is handled within SLAs.
  • Attend detailed assessment hearings and mediations, both remotely and in person, to perform advocacy.
  • Mentor and delegate tasks to Paralegals to support their technical development.

Requirements

  • Degree, LPC, or ALCD qualification.
  • Knowledge of the Detailed Assessment process and relevant CPR provisions relating to costs.
  • Proven telephone negotiation skills and ability to provide verbal and written advice.
  • Understanding of current cost case law and insurance litigation practices.
  • Must be based in or able to work from the Birmingham office on a hybrid basis.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and remain calm under pressure.
