Senior .NET/C# Engineer (Virtual Power Plant)

Location: Hybrid from Rotterdam, Netherlands; 40% office, 40% home, and 20% flexible work. With manager approval, working abroad is permitted within approved countries for up to 3 weeks per year, with a maximum of 2 consecutive weeks.

Salary: €95,000–€140,000 gross annual salary, including FlexBudget and 8% holiday allowance; bonus or collective profit sharing may apply.

What you will do

• Build and maintain backend services and integrations in .NET/C# for a Virtual Power Plant.
• Develop optimization solutions for behind-the-meter batteries, rooftop solar, and other customer-side installations.
• Connect data flows that allow distributed assets to participate in energy markets as one portfolio.
• Own and evolve high-availability systems operating 24/7 across multiple European markets, including shared on-call responsibility.
• Drive Proofs of Concept and contribute to architectural and technical design decisions.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and shared engineering standards.

Requirements

• Around 7 years of backend engineering experience with .NET/C# and complex distributed systems.
• Experience designing, owning, and evolving high-availability production systems at scale, ideally in real-time or data-intensive domains.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging such as Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or RabbitMQ.
• Knowledge of Azure, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, and relational and non-relational databases.
• Willingness to participate in on-call support for a 24/7 production environment and lead cross-functional technical discussions.
• Based in the Netherlands and fluent in English.
