What you will do

• Lead the Disability Large Case Unit underwriting team, providing exceptional service to field offices and advisors.
• Establish and drive the strategic direction of Disability Underwriting and New Business operations.
• Operationalize strategies to improve the underwriter, producer, and customer experience.
• Manage workflow for large-case segmentation, including routing and prioritization.
• Implement and monitor key performance metrics to ensure risk selection excellence and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to challenge the status quo and drive sustainable improvements in costs and quality.

Requirements

• 10+ years of Disability Underwriting experience.
• Minimum Disability Underwriting Authority limit of $15k per month or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience demonstrating informal leadership by guiding and coaching colleagues.
• Strong knowledge of disability risk selection covering medical, financial, and occupational facets.
• Ability to analyze, dissect, and interpret complex business data to make sound risk decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience overseeing a team of underwriters and providing day-to-day leadership.
• Industry designations such as FALU, FLMI, or CLU.
• College degree or equivalent years of experience.
• Proven experience leading impactful strategic level initiatives.
