What you will do
- Lead the Disability Large Case Unit underwriting team, providing exceptional service to field offices and advisors.
- Establish and drive the strategic direction of Disability Underwriting and New Business operations.
- Operationalize strategies to improve the underwriter, producer, and customer experience.
- Manage workflow for large-case segmentation, including routing and prioritization.
- Implement and monitor key performance metrics to ensure risk selection excellence and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to challenge the status quo and drive sustainable improvements in costs and quality.
Requirements
- 10+ years of Disability Underwriting experience.
- Minimum Disability Underwriting Authority limit of $15k per month or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience demonstrating informal leadership by guiding and coaching colleagues.
- Strong knowledge of disability risk selection covering medical, financial, and occupational facets.
- Ability to analyze, dissect, and interpret complex business data to make sound risk decisions.
Nice to have
- Experience overseeing a team of underwriters and providing day-to-day leadership.
- Industry designations such as FALU, FLMI, or CLU.
- College degree or equivalent years of experience.
- Proven experience leading impactful strategic level initiatives.
