Life Underwriting Consultant

Location: Work from home in the USA; remote environment

Salary: $85,000–$105,000 annually, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus of 12.5%.

What you will do

• Review cases and ensure effective life insurance risk selection.
• Make and defend complex underwriting decisions across different ages and risk tables.
• Exercise approval authority for cases up to $2.5–$5 million and evaluate cases up to $7.5 million.
• Provide mentoring and consultative services to subordinate underwriters.
• Coordinate frequently with Underwriting, New Business, distribution, and other internal groups.
• Identify process improvements and demonstrate business results using Lean practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 6 years of life or health underwriting experience.
• Proficiency with AWD or a similar system.
• Risk assessment, financial analysis, platform, and Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, planning, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work independently in a virtual remote environment and meet high productivity demands.
