Excess Workers' Compensation Claims Manager

Location: U.S.-based role. Candidates outside the St. Louis metropolitan area may work remotely or from a regional office; candidates in the St. Louis metropolitan area must work hybrid, with at least 3 days per week at the Saint Louis, Missouri corporate office.

Salary: $88,000–$113,500 annual base salary, plus potential holiday bonus and incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage high-exposure workers’ compensation claims from initial assignment through closure.
• Evaluate coverage and exposure, establish and update reserves, and negotiate settlements within assigned authority.
• Guide medical and litigation strategies toward effective claim resolution.
• Direct and advise third-party administrators, monitor defense counsel performance, and coordinate with medical management staff, vendors, underwriters, and claims leadership.
• Identify reinsurance involvement and communicate updates on large losses, problem accounts, and TPA concerns.
• Process reimbursements and vendor checks, maintain claim documentation, and travel for TPA, LPT, underwriting-requested audits, and problem claims.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• At least 5 years of workers’ compensation claims-adjusting experience with an insurance carrier or third-party administrator.
• Strong organizational, analytical, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to travel as needed for audits and problem claims and complete related reports.
• Must already be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future work authorization sponsorship from hirify.global.
