Complex Claims Specialist - A&E (Professional Liability)

Location: Primarily hybrid with in-office attendance at least two days per week for candidates near an office; qualified remote candidates may also be considered. The position can be based in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Manhattan, or West Hartford, United States.

Salary: $125,000–$155,000 per year, plus a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Analyze liability claim submissions, documentation, and legal filings for potential coverage.
• Prepare coverage analyses and continually assess exposures and claim reserve adequacy.
• Drive early resolution and settlement opportunities for complex commercial insurance claims.
• Monitor litigation, manage local defense counsel, and attend mediations or settlement conferences.
• Manage third-party vendor and service provider spend while maintaining accurate claim files.
• Communicate directly with insureds and brokers and escalate high-exposure or volatile claims.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission in good standing, or 10+ years of relevant experience.
• At least 2–3 years of professional experience in Architecture & Engineering and/or Professional Liability; coverage experience is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships with clients and work effectively in a collegial, team-oriented environment.
• Adjuster licensing is required within 90 days of employment.
• Availability for approximately 10% travel.

Nice to have

• General understanding of insurance law and prior experience with an insurance carrier.
• Experience leading or attending mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Progress toward CPCU, ARMS, AINS, or another approved professional designation.
• Additional insurance-related continuing education and experience supporting product innovation.
