Product Manager - Devices (Automotive)

Location: San Diego, California, United States. Hybrid schedule: office on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; remote work on Tuesday and Friday.

Salary: $110,000–$145,000 USD per year, plus eligibility for a yearly bonus.

What you will do

• Own the vehicle data roadmap from on-device CAN, J1939, and OBD-II data capture through the Vehicle Data Service.
• Drive Vehicle Data Service development, including ADAS feature integration and contextual alert decoration.
• Partner with product managers in safety, analytics, compliance, and coaching to support downstream solutions.
• Define OEM integration strategy and expand coverage through truck and vehicle OEM partnerships and proprietary protocols.
• Maintain the vehicle data contract covering schemas, parameters, ADAS events, decoration logic, and delivery mechanisms.
• Translate requirements into PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria while monitoring coverage, decoding accuracy, event capture, and platform adoption KPIs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; engineering, computer science, or a related technical field preferred.
• 5+ years of industry experience, including at least 3 years in product management within a technology, automotive, or fleet environment.
• Experience with vehicle data systems, CAN bus protocols, J1939, OBD-II/J1979, or vehicle telemetry.
• Strong understanding of data decoding and normalization, ADAS technologies, and vehicle safety interfaces.
• Experience collaborating with CAN engineering, data engineering, hardware, and embedded software teams.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

Nice to have

• Experience with ADAS systems or OEM safety platform integration.
• Experience in a platform-oriented product management role serving internal teams.
