Senior Manufacturing Dimensional Engineer (Automotive)

Senior Manufacturing Dimensional Engineer (Automotive): Leading dimensional variation reduction and analyzing product dimensional performance for automotive assemblies with an accent on GD&T, datum strategies, and virtual build technologies. Focus on root causing build issues, supervising dimensional engineers, and optimizing supplier processes including injection and blow molding.

Location: Hybrid (Warren, Michigan). Must be able to report to local office.

What you will do

• Lead dimensional variation reduction activities, including slow builds, fixture builds, and variation stack-up analysis.
• Analyze parts and assemblies using virtual tools such as Team Center, Polyworks, and Scanning equipment.
• Root cause build issues, define corrective action plans, and validate their effectiveness.
• Coordinate with product, tooling, and design teams to understand and mitigate dimensional risks.
• Supervise a team of three Dimensional Matching Engineers and scanning resources.
• Interface with assembly plant labor workforce and plant leadership to ensure process consistency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or in a similar role.
• Advanced expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), datum strategies, and statistical background.
• Extensive experience with BIW, GA, and Dimensional Quality processes.
• Proficiency in reading product drawings and manipulating electronic part files to build assemblies.
• Experience with various supplier processes (Injection Molding, Blow Molding, Foam, etc.) and scan data analysis.
