TL;DR

Senior Design Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical): Leading the mechanical integration of electrical systems for heavy construction and mining equipment with an accent on packaging, routing, and durability. Focus on designing robust electrical installations, optimizing structural interfaces, and coordinating cross-functional validation from concept through production.

Location: Onsite 5 days a week in Decatur, IL or Mossville, IL. Relocation assistance is available.

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical design and integration of electrical systems within complex vehicle platforms, focusing on routing and packaging.
• Develop brackets, harness routing paths, enclosures, and installation schemes balancing electrical performance with mechanical durability.
• Manage cost, quality, validation, and schedules for assigned projects from concept to production.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure assembly feasibility and lifecycle efficiency.
• Research and develop new technologies for vehicle integration, including thermal and durability considerations.
• Lead design reviews and execute prototype builds, testing, and fit/form/function assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with heavy equipment, Large Wheel Loaders, or mining applications.
• Hands-on experience with vehicle systems integration, structural interfaces, and installation design.
• Extensive proficiency with Creo, Vis View, and Teamcenter.
• Proven ability to lead multiple engineering projects within a gated development process.
• Visa sponsorship is not offered; must have valid US work authorization.
