Senior Software Engineer - AI (EMEA) (LLM and AI-powered product experiences): Building reliable AI-native experiences for dashboards, investigations, agents, and conversational interfaces with an accent on context engineering, prompt engineering, and trustworthy customer outcomes. Focus on designing evaluation frameworks, managing model non-determinism, and integrating Datadog capabilities into third-party AI platforms.
Location: Hybrid role based in Bordeaux, Grenoble, Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, Nice, Paris, or Sophia Antipolis, France, or Madrid, Spain

What you will do
- Lead the design and delivery of AI-powered experiences across visualization and investigation surfaces.
- Build systems combining deterministic product capabilities with LLM-powered interactions.
- Develop context engineering, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and AI application reliability practices.
- Improve investigation workflows and help customers discover insights more efficiently.
- Enable Datadog capabilities to operate within third-party AI platforms, agents, and conversational environments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the Data Visualization and Graphing organizations.
Requirements
- Extensive software engineering experience at or near Staff Engineer scope.
- Hands-on experience delivering production AI-powered products and customer-facing experiences using LLM technologies.
- Experience managing model non-determinism through evaluation frameworks, testing strategies, and operational excellence.
- Product-oriented engineering approach with the ability to connect technical decisions to customer outcomes and business impact.
- Experience collaborating across multiple teams and influencing technical direction without direct authority.

- Experience with agentic systems, conversational interfaces, AI-assisted investigations, observability, data visualization, or developer tools.
