Collection Specialist

What you will do

• Manage complex and high-value delinquent accounts and determine recovery strategies.
• Communicate with customers by phone, email, and written correspondence to resolve disputes and negotiate payment arrangements.
• Monitor and document communications, agreements, payments, settlements, discounts, and payment terms.
• Analyze account trends and payment behavior to support data-driven collection decisions.
• Generate collection reports, provide management updates, and identify process improvements.
• Escalate high-risk accounts and recommend higher-level collections or legal action when necessary.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant collections experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Fluent English and German at a minimum B2/C1 level required.
• Strong negotiation, communication, customer service, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of collections laws and regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and familiarity with basic accounting principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, data analysis tools, and collections software.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise resource planning systems or collections software.
• Additional language skills.
