TL;DR

Principal Legal Counsel (Fintech): Managing contentious legal and litigation risk for a leading investment platform with an accent on retail financial services regulation and dispute resolution. Focus on providing expert litigation services, overseeing complex workstreams, and influencing strategic objectives while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Bristol, UK (Hybrid role).

What you will do

  • Provide expert and pragmatic litigation services to manage contentious legal and litigation risk.
  • Support the business in managing litigation workstreams, including disclosure, expert, and witness evidence.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel and manage litigation-related activities.
  • Develop and deliver training on litigation and legal knowledge within the team.
  • Support the Director of Disputes and Contentious Risk in shaping legal strategy and achieving strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain internal and external professional networks while staying updated on relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with 10+ years PQE.
  • Extensive experience in litigation and contentious financial services matters, preferably in a retail context.
  • Strong understanding of UK financial service laws, including FCA regulation and the FOS.
  • Ability to translate complex legal matters into pragmatic advice for business stakeholders.
  • Excellent technical, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK as sponsorship is not provided.
