Senior Geologist (Geohazards)

Location: Walnut Creek, California, United States; hybrid worksite with partial telecommuting up to 2 days per week and 25% domestic travel.

What you will do

• Conduct geologic hazard assessments, site characterization studies, fault investigations, and seismic hazard assessments.
• Perform field mapping, rock and soil sampling, site assessments, core logging, and support for drilling and field exploration programs.
• Interpret geologic, geotechnical, geospatial, and downhole geophysical data; develop geologic models, seismic source models, and earthquake catalogs.
• Prepare accurate technical reports, desktop studies, proposals, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Manage multiple small to mid-size projects, including budgets, schedules, scopes of work, subcontractor procurement, and client relationships.
• Mentor junior staff and collaborate with geologists, engineers, laboratories, and clients while supporting safety, quality, and business development.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Engineering Geology or Geological Engineering.
• At least 2 years of field experience in soil and rock logging, geologic mapping, site characterization, and paleoseismological trenching for fault investigations.
• Experience interpreting geologic and geotechnical data, integrating downhole geophysical data, developing geologic models, and performing rock mass characterization.
• Experience preparing technical reports and desktop studies and managing projects, including nuclear power projects.
• Understanding of geohazards and their implications for project planning and development.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Walnut Creek and travel domestically approximately 25% of the time.
