Senior Geologist (Geohazards and Seismic Analysis)

Location: Hybrid worksite in Walnut Creek, California, United States, with partial telecommuting 2 days per week and 25% domestic travel.

Salary: $123,240 per year.

What you will do

• Perform geologic hazard assessments and site characterization for infrastructure projects, including fault studies, seismic hazard assessments, seismic source modeling, and earthquake catalog development.
• Conduct field exploration, including rock and soil sampling, geologic mapping, site assessment, paleoseismological investigations, drilling support, core logging, and sample preparation.
• Interpret geologic, geotechnical, geospatial, and downhole geophysical data; develop geologic models, engineering geologic analyses, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Prepare technical reports, desktop studies, proposals, estimates, and presentations using geologic software to interpret and present data.
• Manage multiple small to mid-size projects, including scope, budget, schedule, subcontractor procurement, client relations, and technical delivery.
• Mentor junior staff, collaborate with geologists and engineers, support business and client development, and contribute to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Engineering Geology or Geological Engineering.
• At least 2 years of field experience in soil and rock logging, geologic mapping, site characterization, and paleoseismological trenching for fault investigations.
• Experience with geologic and geotechnical data interpretation, integration of downhole geophysical data, and development of geologic models supporting engineering decisions.
• Experience preparing technical reports and desktop studies, managing projects including nuclear power projects, and performing rock mass characterization.
• Ability to synthesize complex geological data to assess site conditions and support multidisciplinary project teams.
• Understanding of geohazards and their implications for project planning and development.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with partial telecommuting 2 days per week and undertake 25% domestic travel.
