Hydrogeologist (Environmental)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina, United States. Work is primarily performed in the office or at commercial, government, and industrial client sites; travel to client sites, contractor facilities, and industry events is required and may be at least 20% of the week.

What you will do

• Manage projects involving wastewater regulations, contaminant investigations, infrastructure environmental assessments, remediation, permitting, and compliance.
• Prepare proposals, work plans, reports, scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Delegate and oversee project team assignments, lead field activities, and perform fiscal and administrative project functions.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other professionals on site assessments, remediation plans, data collection and interpretation, literature reviews, and client recommendations.
• Review technical reports, provide quality assurance and technical oversight, and communicate findings to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate with environmental regulatory agencies and represent projects in meetings with government agency staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, or a related scientific field.
• North or South Carolina Licensed Geologist.
• At least eight years of professional environmental experience, including at least three years directly supervising investigation and remediation of hazardous substance or waste disposal sites.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with M365 software and Deltek or other project tracking software.

Nice to have

• Registered Site Manager in the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Registered Environmental Consultant Program.
• Qualification to serve as a testifying expert witness in litigation cases.
