What you will do

• Develop techniques for threat models and risk pathway analyses capturing societal dimensions
• Model risk transformation, amplification, and threshold effects in social systems
• Design robust governance frameworks and assessment methodologies for catastrophic risks including loss-of-control
• Provide quality control for team research ensuring conceptual soundness
• Drive original research projects on AI risk management aligned with team objectives
• Collaborate across teams and contribute to technical standards for AI risk evaluation
• Craft communications for stakeholders on AI risk management

Requirements

• 5+ years in AI safety, alignment, and/or governance
• Strong understanding of risk modeling (causal, Bayesian networks, systems dynamics)
• Experience with systemic and sociotechnical risk propagation modeling
• Excellent analytical thinking to identify flaws in complex arguments
• Strong written/verbal communication for technical/non-technical audiences
• Publication record or equivalent expertise
• Systems thinking with intellectual rigor
• Track record of collaboration in fast-paced environments

Nice to have

• Background in complex systems, control theory, cybernetics, or dynamical systems
• Work at AI safety orgs, technical labs, or policy institutions
• Experience with quality assurance for technical research
• Modeling threshold effects and nonlinear dynamics in sociotechnical systems
• Understanding of international AI dynamics
• Experience with causal, Bayesian, or hypergraphs for risk analysis
