TL;DR

Location: Hybrid role based in Milton Keynes, UK; requires regular office attendance and monthly on-site duty management.

Salary: £47,389 – £56,535 (pro-rata for part-time)

What you will do

  • Lead strategic relationships with faculty stakeholders to align library services with teaching and research priorities.
  • Manage the Information Resources Budget (IRB) and oversee collection development and licensing.
  • Provide strategic leadership for key service areas, including training, real-time support, and curriculum integration.
  • Direct and motivate library teams to deliver high-quality services within a matrix management structure.
  • Analyze business intelligence and data to inform strategic decision-making and service improvements.
  • Participate in the Extended Leadership Team to contribute to institutional strategy and sector-leading developments.

Requirements

  • Degree in librarianship or information science (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Expert knowledge of library resources, modern teaching methods, and distance learning service delivery.
  • Proven experience in library strategy development, change management, and leading cross-functional projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent people management experience, including team development and performance appraisal.
  • Must be able to work from the Milton Keynes office as required by business needs.

Nice to have

  • Experience in project management and planning.
  • Background in the Higher Education sector.
  • Professional accreditation such as Chartered Librarian or Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA).
