TL;DR
Lead Data Engineer: Leading the design and development of scalable data pipelines and workflows for a private market database with an accent on data modeling, pipeline orchestration, and system architecture. Focus on modernizing data tooling, mentoring engineering staff, and bridging the gap between operational needs and software engineering rigor.
Location: Must be based in Seattle, Washington, USA (Onsite 5 days a week)
Salary: $175,000 - $220,000

What you will do
- Lead the design and development of scalable data pipelines and workflows.
- Define and implement best practices for data modeling, orchestration, and monitoring.
- Drive improvements in data architecture, including warehousing and transformation layers.
- Act as a technical mentor and coach for a team of data engineers.
- Bridge the gap between operational workflows and software engineering rigor.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to align architecture and shared capabilities.
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with large, complex datasets.
- Strong Python experience for data processing and pipeline development.
- Proven experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows.
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and modern data stacks like Snowflake.
Nice to have
- Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow.
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience applying AI/ML or automation techniques to improve operational efficiency.
