TL;DR

Location: Must be physically located in the Toronto metropolitan area

Salary: $148,000 – $189,000 CAD Annual

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable back-end systems for the Payroll product.
  • Implement new features using a modern microservices architecture in a continuous delivery environment.
  • Collaborate with product managers, front-end engineers, and stakeholders to align with the product roadmap.
  • Write clean, maintainable code in Kotlin, Scala, or Java.
  • Build and optimize APIs to ensure seamless platform integrations.
  • Own the full development cycle: from technical design and coding to testing, deployment, and monitoring.

Requirements

  • Physically located in the Toronto metropolitan area.
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on backend development for SaaS applications.
  • Proven experience building and shipping customer-facing features to production.
  • Excellent knowledge of software design and scalable architecture.
  • Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
  • Experience with AWS (or equivalent cloud platforms) and relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing payroll, payments, or HR-related products.
