What you will do
- Manage core accounting functions, budget planning, and financial monitoring for the Academic Finance portfolio.
- Develop comprehensive financial reports and provide strategic recommendations for system processing improvements.
- Interpret and monitor financial policies for grant funds to ensure compliance with the Canada Revenue Agency and university regulations.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end financial activities, including accruals and ensuring financial statement accuracy.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and advice to unit leaders on human and financial resource planning.
- Conduct audit-style reviews and spot checks to mitigate financial and non-financial risks.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Completion of at least 7 of the 14 CPA academic prerequisites.
- Minimum of two years of related financial experience.
- Ability to work onsite at the Alternate Site in Vancouver, BC.
- Demonstrated skill in budget preparation and management.
- Ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Nice to have
- Experience with systems (FMS, P-Card, PeopleSoft Budgeting, HRMS, Position Management).
- FMS certification.
- Knowledge of grant administration, government policies, and audit practices.
