Location: Plymouth, Minnesota, United States; minimum 3 days per week onsite

Salary: $88,000–$121,000 annually, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus

What you will do

  • Design and develop embedded closed-loop control algorithms for pumps, motors, valves, and therapy sensors.
  • Translate clinical and user needs into control-system requirements, logic diagrams, operating modes, alarms, and thresholds.
  • Build, simulate, and iterate control models using rapid prototyping, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
  • Plan and execute verification activities, including automated test scripting, laboratory evaluations, and algorithm performance characterization.
  • Create requirements, design descriptions, test plans, protocols, and results supporting the Design History File.
  • Act as a Controls subject matter expert by troubleshooting system-level issues, leading root-cause investigations, and supporting cross-functional product development teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, in electrical, mechanical, biomedical, controls, systems, software, or related engineering.
  • Experience developing embedded real-time digital control systems and understanding timing and latency considerations.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow for model-based design; Embedded Coder or MATLAB Coder experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in one or more of C, C++, Java, Python, or MATLAB, including maintainable code and automated test scripts.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and fluid-dynamics fundamentals, plant models, physics-based simulations, and interfaces such as I2C, Ethernet, serial, or shared memory.
  • Ability to work onsite in Plymouth, Minnesota at least 3 days per week.

Nice to have

  • Experience in medical devices or other highly regulated industries such as aerospace or automotive.
  • Experience with requirements management and disciplined development practices.
  • Background in electro-hydraulics, process control, or similar control-intensive industries.
