Senior Software Engineer - Platform Services

Location: Hybrid in London, London, City of

What you will do

• Own and operate platform services including customer and developer portals, centralized document management, identity infrastructure, and other cross-cutting services.
• Lead architectural decisions across the platform and maintain engineering standards, shared libraries, service templates, API specifications, event specifications, and Kafka integration patterns.
• Own performance and reliability through distributed tracing, benchmarking, latency optimization, and incident response.
• Continue the Keycloak migration and identity infrastructure work.
• Lead development of the developer portal and internal tooling.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical quality.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience with distributed systems at scale.
• Strong experience with Node.js/TypeScript and Java/Kotlin.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Production experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Experience with Postgres, Elasticsearch, and observability tooling including Datadog and Elastic APM.
• Experience in financial services or other regulated or high-reliability environments.

Nice to have

• Identity and authentication experience with Keycloak or similar technologies, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, or SAML.
• Experience with zero-downtime migrations.
• Developer experience or platform tooling experience with Backstage, service templates, or DORA metrics.
• Technical leadership or product ownership of platform services.
