Scala Backend Software Engineer - Vice President (Fintech)

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; office work Monday–Thursday with remote flexibility on Friday.

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 per year, plus equity and an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Build cloud-native backend services and APIs in Scala.
• Develop performant applications using open-source frameworks such as Akka and ZIO.
• Write unit and integration tests with ScalaTest.
• Participate in stand-ups, peer code reviews, and the software development lifecycle.
• Support clients with system integrations and production issues.
• Collaborate with Investments Product Management throughout the development process.

Requirements

• Degree in Software Engineering.
• 9+ years of web-based application development experience.
• At least 2 years of Scala experience.
• Understanding of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling practices.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to have

• Experience with Node.js or Java.
• Ability and interest in learning new technologies.
